Resolution authorizing Recertification for Lake County Stormwater Management Commission Community Certification

 

Staff Summary

•                     The petition is for community certification and isolated wetland certification and is valid for a three-year period.  The current certification expires this spring.

•                     The Lake County Watershed Development Ordinance (WDO) has been incorporated into Article 8 of the Lake County Unified Development Ordinance (UDO).

•                     Please see the enclosed report for further information.  Staff will present the background information at the Committee meeting.

 

Body

WHEREAS, the Lake County Board adopted the Watershed Development Ordinance (WDO) on October 13, A.D. 1992 with subsequent amendments on November 8, 2005; January 10, 2006; March 11, 2008; and

WHEREAS, said Ordinance establishes certain reasonable minimum regulations applicable throughout all areas of Lake County as are necessary to protect the public health, safety and welfare with respect to the accumulation and runoff of stormwater; and

WHEREAS, said Ordinance provides for and encourages the certification of all municipalities and the County in the enforcement of these regulations; and

WHEREAS, the Lake County Engineering and Environmental Services Division of the Planning, Building and Development Department has the technical ability to review, approve and enforce the regulations of the Watershed Development Ordinance; and

WHEREAS, the County wishes to continue to serve as a Certified Community to enforce said regulations within the unincorporated areas; and

WHEREAS, the County wishes to continue to serve as an Isolated Waters of Lake County Certified Community to enforce said regulations within the unincorporated areas; and

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by this County Board, of Lake County, Illinois, that the Chairperson of the County Board of Lake County is hereby authorized to execute and forward to the Lake County Stormwater Management Commission a petition for Community Certification and Isolated Waters of Lake County Community Certification of unincorporated Lake County.
