Staff Summary

                     2018 Motor Fuel Tax Fund, Patrol One General Maintenance Materials and Services: Appropriation.

                     In order to perform necessary highway maintenance, the Division of Transportation must purchase Patrol One general maintenance materials and services.

                     Patrol One general maintenance materials and services may include, but not be limited to, supplies such as paint, sign posts, shoulder aggregate, and deicing materials, as well as utility services and repairs.

                     An appropriation of $716,400 of Motor Fuel Tax funds and $100,000 of Matching Tax funds must be made prior to a letting being held.

                     This project is included in the highway improvement program.

R E S O L U T I O N

 

WHEREAS, in order to maintain the condition of the designated routes on the County highway system, the Division of Transportation annually undertakes various general maintenance activities that utilize miscellaneous highway materials and services; and

 

WHEREAS, general maintenance materials and services may include, but not be limited to, supplies such as paint, sign posts, shoulder aggregate, and deicing materials, as well as utility services and repairs; and

 

WHEREAS, the estimated cost of the general maintenance materials and services for 2018 is estimated to be $816,400.

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by this Lake County Board, that there is hereby appropriated $716,400 of Motor Fuel Tax funds for the purpose of maintaining streets and highways, including utility services, under the applicable Illinois Highway Code, from December 1, 2017 to November 30, 2018, and $100,000 of Matching Tax funds for deicing materials needed to support various maintenance activities on various County highways, and designated as Section 18-00000-00-GM.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that only those operations as listed and described on the approved Estimate of Maintenance Costs, including supplemental and revising estimates approved in connection with this resolution, are eligible for maintenance with Motor Fuel Tax funds during the period as specified above.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Acting County Engineer of Lake County shall submit within three months after the end of the maintenance period as stated above, to the Department of Transportation, on forms available from the Department, a certified statement showing expenditures and the balances remaining in the funds authorized for expenditure by the Department under this appropriation.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk is hereby directed to transmit four certified originals of this resolution to the district office of the Department of Transportation.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this appropriation be processed by the Acting County Engineer for final approval of the Illinois Department of Transportation in accordance with the “Agreement of Understanding” between the Illinois Department of Transportation and Lake County, dated January 18, 2013.
