RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Deerfield Road, from US Route 45/Illinois Route 21 to Saunders Road/Riverwoods Road, needs to be improved by widening and reconstructing the roadway as well as the addition of non-motorized accommodations; and
WHEREAS, the free flow of traffic along Deerfield Road, from US Route 45/Illinois Route 21 to Saunders Road/Riverwoods Road, is beneficial to the safety and welfare of the State of Illinois and the County as a whole; and
WHEREAS, the State of Illinois and Lake County believe it would be beneficial to the safety and welfare of the motoring public to reconstruct, widen and include non-motorized accommodations to Deerfield Road, from US Route 45/Illinois Route 21 to Saunders Road/Riverwoods Road; and
WHEREAS, a Phase I preliminary engineering study is required; and
WHEREAS, the IDOT and Lake County are desirous of entering into an agreement for said Phase I preliminary engineering study, a draft copy of which is attached hereto.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by this Lake County Board, that the County Board Chair, the County Clerk, and the County Engineer of Lake County are authorized, and they are directed to execute on behalf of Lake County, an agreement, for the Phase I preliminary engineering study of Deerfield Road, from US Route 45/Illinois Route 21 to Saunders Road/Riverwoods Road, and such authorization shall include any subsequent amendments.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Engineer shall transmit, in writing, the final agreement, and any subsequent amendments, to be executed by the County Board Chair and the County Clerk.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that there is hereby appropriated $2,335,000 of ¼% Sales Tax for Transportation funds for the Phase I preliminary engineering study, and designated as Section 15-00038-07-WR, and State Job No. P-91-159-16.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this agreement, when executed in its final form, be submitted to the Illinois Department of Transportation for their approval and final processing.
