WHEREAS, Lake County has used Abbott Laboratories drug detection chemistry analyzer equipment manufactured by Abbott Laboratories since 2002; and
WHEREAS, there is a need to purchase reagents and a service contract to support the equipment; and
WHEREAS, Abbott Laboratories Inc., Abbott Park, IL is the equipment manufacturer and the only source to purchase reagents and equipment service; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with Article 6, Section 102 of the Lake County Purchasing Ordinance, the Purchasing Agent consulted with an ad hoc review group and determined that this purchase is exempt from bidding on the basis of Sole Source.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that the Purchasing Agent is authorized to enter into a two-year agreement with renewals with Abbott Laboratories Inc., Abbott Park, IL for the purchase of reagents and a service contract for an Abbott AxSym Chemistry Analyzer for the Office of the Lake County Coroner in the estimated annual amount of $33,000 charging account 101-3500010-65020-000-000-000-00000 and request its adoption.
