Staff Summary

·      The County's current uniform vendor for the Lake County Sheriff's Office is unable to provide the necessary body armor carriers with the required customization in the needed timeframe.

·      J.G. Uniforms has been identified as the vendor who has been subcontracted out by the vendor to provide the carrier with the required customization.

·      To meet the required timeframes for delivery, the Sheriff's Office has requested to contract directly with J.G. Uniforms to provide and customize the body armor.

·      The Purchasing Agent consulted with an ad hoc review group and determined that this purchase is exempt from bidding on the basis of sole source.

·      The contract authorizes a one-year agreement with a one-year renewal option and will cost Lake County an estimated annual amount of $41,000.

Body

WHEREAS, the County's current uniform vendor for the Lake County Sheriff's Office is unable to provide the necessary body armor carriers with the required customization in the needed timeframe; and

WHEREAS, J.G. Uniforms has been identified as the vendor who has been subcontracted out by the vendor to provide the carrier with the required customization; and

WHEREAS, to meet the required timeframe for delivery the Lake County Sheriff's Office has requested to contract directly with J.G. Uniforms to provide and customize the body armor; and

WHEREAS, in accordance with Article 6, Section 102 of the Lake County Purchasing Ordinance, the Purchasing Agent consulted with an ad hoc review group and determined that this purchase is exempt from bidding on the basis of sole source.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that the Purchasing Agent is authorized to enter into a agreement, with J.G. Uniforms, Chicago, IL for the purchase of body armor carriers for the Sherriff's Office in the estimated annual amount of $41,000, charged to #101-300110-61060.
