Staff Summary
·      This is a Local Alcohol Program grant which covers the time period of October 1, 2012 through September 30, 2013.
·      The grant covers a portion of the expenses related to the enforcement of Driving Under the Influence (DUI) patrols and roadblocks.
·      For this grant program, we have a goal of four DUI patrols and roadblocks this year.
o      Hireback four deputies and one command in fully marked squad cars for each roadblock.
o      Run the DUI patrol/roadblocks during times of high crash incidents, from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m., locations to be determined.
 
Body
WHEREAS, the Illinois Department of Transportation has notified the Lake County Sheriff that a Local Alcohol Program has been awarded for the time period of October 1, 2012 through September 30, 2013; and
 
WHEREAS, the Lake County Sheriff will provide DUI patrols and roadblocks; and
 
WHEREAS, the grant must be formally accepted by the County of Lake and the necessary appropriations and approvals made.
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that the acceptance of the Illinois Department of Transportation Local Alcohol Program in the amount of $10,582.42 for the period beginning October 1, 2012 through September 30, 2013, is hereby accepted; and
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Chairman of the Board, the Lake County Sheriff, and the Lake County Treasurer are hereby authorized to execute the necessary documentation in order to accept the grant (grant program agreement to be attached hereto and hereby made a part of this resolution); and
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that offsetting revenue in the amount of $10,582.42 from the Illinois Department of Transportation will be deposited in the proper revenue account; and
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Lake County Sheriff shall serve as project director for the program, and accurate records of all necessary grant compliance requirements shall be kept by the Lake County Sheriff's Office.
