R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Arlington Heights Road, County Highway 79, is a designated route on the county highway system; and
WHEREAS, the deck beams of the bridge carrying southbound Arlington Heights Road over Buffalo Creek are at the end of their useful life; and
WHEREAS, the Illinois Department of Transportation, IDOT, has allocated Lake County federal Highway Bridge Replacement funds, HBR, for the proposed replacement of the deck beams of the bridge carrying southbound Arlington Heights Road over Buffalo Creek; and
WHEREAS, the Phase I preliminary engineering study for the proposed improvement has been completed, and Phase II design engineering needs to begin; and,
WHEREAS, it is advisable that a firm be employed to provide professional services for design of the replacement of the deck beams on the said bridge; and
WHEREAS, Lake County, by and through its Division of Transportation, has selected a professional engineering services firm, MACTEC Engineering and Consulting, Inc., Chicago, Illinois, in accordance with the Local Government Professional Services Selection Act, for said design of the replacement of the precast concrete deck beams on the said bridge.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by this Lake County Board that MACTEC Engineering and Consulting, Inc., Chicago, Illinois, be employed to provide professional services for the design of the above-said improvement, and that the County Board Chair, the County Clerk and the County Engineer of Lake County are authorized and they are directed to execute, on behalf of Lake County, a contract, a draft copy of which is attached hereto, for the provision of said engineering services for the design of the replacement of the deck beams on the bridge carrying southbound Arlington Heights Road over Buffalo Creek and such authorization shall include any necessary subsequent IDOT required amendments.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Engineer shall transmit in writing the final agreement, and any amendments, as required by IDOT, to be executed by the County Board Chair and the County Clerk.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that there is hereby appropriated $100,000 of County Bridge Tax funds for this improvement designated as Section 10-00193-07-BR.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this agreement be administered in accordance with Chapter 605, Act 5, Section 5-205.2 of the Illinois Compiled Statutes without further Board action providing the final contract cost chargeable under the funds appropriated does not exceed the appropriations provided.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this consultant agreement, and any amendments, when executed in their final form, be submitted to the Illinois Department of Transportation for their approval and final processing.
