RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Cedar Lake Road, County Highway 28, is a designated route on the county highway system; and
WHEREAS, the State of Illinois and Lake County believe it would be beneficial to the safety and welfare of the traveling public if Cedar Lake Road, from Hart Road to Nippersink Road, could be improved, inclusive of non-motorized improvements; and
WHEREAS, the State of Illinois and Lake County are desirous of entering into an agreement to utilize up to $4,000,000 of federal highway funds for the acquisition of necessary right-of-way, by agreement or condemnation, and other right-of-way costs associated with the above referenced improvement, a draft copy of which is attached hereto; and
WHEREAS, the County Board of Lake County, Illinois, at its June 9, 2026 meeting, appropriated $9,600,000 of Motor Fuel Tax Funds for the acquisition of necessary right-of-way.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that the County Board Chair, the County Clerk and the County Engineer of Lake County are authorized, and are hereby directed to execute an agreement, and any amendments, between Lake County and the Illinois Department of Transportation pertaining to the financing of the improvements of Cedar Lake Road, and designated as Section 02-00065-01-FP; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the County Engineer shall transmit, in writing, the final agreement, and any amendments, required by the Illinois Department of Transportation, to be executed by the County Board Chair and the County Clerk; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this agreement, and any amendments required by the Illinois Department of Transportation, when executed in their final form, be submitted to the Illinois Department of Transportation for their approval and final processing.
