Staff Summary

•                     In 2006 a Customized Hi-Cube Van, with an Aries Industries Inc Customized Color T.V. Sewer Inspection System was purchased for sewer line inspections.

•                     There is a need to purchase a lateral inspection camera system to be used as an extension to the existing sewer line camera equipment to identify obstructions affecting individual home service lines.

•                     The department conducted reviews of available sources and it has been determined that there is only one source available for the camera that is compatible with the Aries Industries Inc System Sewer Inspection equipment.

•                     The Purchasing Agent consulted with an ad hoc review group and determined that this purchase is exempt from bidding on the basis of sole source.

•                     This purchase will cost $56,885 charging account # 610-4881099-83010-48310.

Body

WHEREAS, in 2006 a Customized Hi-Cube Van, with an Aries Customized Color T.V. Sewer Inspection System was purchased for sanitary sewer line inspections for the Department of Public Works, Libertyville, IL; and

WHEREAS, there is a need to upgrade the current sewer inspection system to incorporate a lateral inspection camera to identify sewer obstructions affecting individual home service lines; and

WHEREAS, Aries Industries Inc., Waukesha WI, is the only manufacturer of a lateral inspection camera that is compatible with the existing Sewer Inspection System; and

WHEREAS, in accordance with Article 6, Section 102 of the Lake County Purchasing Ordinance, the Purchasing Agent consulted with an ad hoc review group and determined that this purchase is exempt from bidding on the basis of Sole Source.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that the Purchasing Agent is authorized to enter into an agreement with Aries Industries Inc., Waukesha, WI for the purchase of a Lateral Inspection Camera System, in the amount of $56,885.00 charging account # 610-4881099-83010-48310
