Special recognition honoring the life and service of Stevenson “Steve” Mountsier.

SPECIAL RECOGNITION

 

WHEREAS, Stevenson "Steve" Mountsier proudly served the residents of District 17 as a member of the Lake County Board for more than 15 years, from 1996 until his retirement in 2012, earning the admiration of his colleagues through his integrity, thoughtful leadership, and commitment to public service; and

 

WHEREAS, during his time on the Lake County Board, Steve Mountsier served in numerous leadership roles, including Vice-Chair of the Lake County Board; Chair and Vice-Chair of the Planning, Building and Zoning Committee; Vice-Chair of the Financial and Administrative Committee; Vice-Chair of the Law and Judicial Committee; Chair of the Lake County Stormwater Management Commission; and as a member of numerous other committees dedicated to protecting Lake County's natural resources, guiding responsible growth, and strengthening county government; and

 

WHEREAS, Steve Mountsier was known as a thoughtful, collaborative leader who championed fiscal responsibility, regional cooperation, responsible land preservation, and effective stormwater management, always working to find practical solutions that would benefit Lake County residents for years to come; and

 

WHEREAS, he proudly served the United States as an Army Supplies Officer during the Korean War, starting a lifelong commitment to serving others while also embarking on a successful career with DeSoto Inc.; and

 

WHEREAS, Steve Mountsier's commitment to public service extended well beyond the County Board, as he also served as President of Barrington Community Unit School District 220 Board, a Cuba Township Committeeman and an active member of the Barrington Area Development Council; and

 

WHEREAS, Steve Mountsier will be remembered for his optimism, humility, generosity, and genuine kindness, always lifting others up and strengthening the communities he served through his leadership, volunteerism, and belief in giving back; and

 

WHEREAS, as a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Sylvia, a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose greatest joy was his family, his compassion, generosity, and support touched the lives of everyone who knew him and will live on through his loved ones; and

 

WHEREAS, Steve Mountsier's life serves as a lasting example of leadership, civic responsibility, and selfless service, leaving Lake County stronger because of his dedication.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RECOGNIZED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that the life and legacy of Stevenson "Steve" Mountsier are hereby honored and celebrated, and that sincere gratitude is expressed for his distinguished service as a Lake County Board Member, his steadfast leadership, his military service, and his lifelong commitment to the people of Lake County; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RECOGNIZED, that the Lake County Board extends its deepest sympathy to Steve Mountsier's children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and all who had the privilege of knowing him, and joins them in celebrating a life defined by service, integrity, generosity, and hope; and

 

BE IT FINALLY RECOGNIZED, that Steve Mountsier's legacy of leadership, kindness, and public service will continue to inspire future generations of Lake County leaders and residents.
