R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Peterson Road, County Highway 20, is a designated route on the County highway system; and
WHEREAS, the free flow of traffic along Peterson Road is beneficial to the safety and welfare to the State of Illinois and the County as a whole; and
WHEREAS, Lake County believes it would be beneficial to the safety and welfare of the motoring public if Peterson Road, from US Route 45 to Illinois Route 83, could be improved; and
WHEREAS, the NICOR Gas Company has a gas main, 1,175 feet of 4" pipe, along Illinois Route 83 located within an existing easement in the area of the improvement; and
WHEREAS it will be necessary to relocate the said gas main to accommodate the upcoming improvement of Peterson Road, from US Route 45 to Illinois Route 83; and
WHEREAS it will be necessary for Lake County to reimburse the NICOR Gas Company for the cost to relocate their gas main, estimated to cost $120,000; and
WHEREAS, the NICOR Gas Company and Lake County are desirous of entering into an agreement to provide for the relocation of the said natural gas line setting forth the terms and obligations to each agency, a draft copy of which is attached hereto; and
WHEREAS, in order to start the relocation work, an appropriation of funds is needed.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by this Lake County Board, that the County Board Chair, the County Clerk and the County Engineer of Lake County are authorized and they are directed to execute an agreement, and subsequent amendments, pertaining to the terms and conditions of the above-named utility relocation.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Engineer shall transmit, in writing, the final agreement to be executed by the County Board Chair and the County Clerk.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that there is appropriated $145,000 of ¼% Sales Tax for Transportation and Public Safety funds for this utility relocation, and is designated as Section 07-00098-17-WR.
