Joint resolution establishing the Coroner’s fees fund and authorizing a line item transfer and an emergency appropriation of FY2010 revenue and expenses of $31,482 from the Coroner’s general operating budget into the newly created Coroner’s fees fund.

 

Staff Summary

                     Senate Bill 2529 revised Illinois Statute 55ILCS 5/4-7001 to require all fees collected under that section by the Coroner’s office to be deposited into a special fund.

                     Revenue collected in this fund may be used for electronic and forensic identification equipment and operating expenses of the Coroner’s office.

                     A line item transfer and an emergency appropriation of $31,482 of FY2010 revenues and expenses from the Coroner’s general operating budget to the newly created Coroner’s Fees is proposed. 

 

Body

WHEREAS, Senate Bill 2529 revised Illinois Statute 55 ILCS 5/4-7001 to require all fees collected under that section  by or on behalf of the coroner’s office to be paid over to the county treasurer and deposited into a special fund in the county treasury; and

 

WHEREAS, A new fund is created to account for fees collected by the Coroner’s office and expenses associated with the purchase of electronic and forensic identification equipment or other related supplies and the operating expenses of the coroner’s office; and 

 

 WHEREAS, A line item transfer and an emergency appropriation of $31,482 of FY2010 revenues and expenses from the Coroner’s operating budget to the Coroner’s Fee Fund is necessary to comply with the new law in the following accounts:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that a new Fund 267 Coroner’s Fees be established and that a line item transfer and an emergency appropriation of $31,482 of FY2010 revenue and expenses from the Coroner’s operating budget to the Coroner’s Fees fund be authorized to comply with state law.
