Staff Summary
• Pursuant to 55 ILCS 5/4-10001, the County Board sets the compensation for elected officials not less than six months before those officials take office.
• Based on the election cycle, it is necessary to set compensation for the Circuit Clerk, Coroner, County Board Members and the County Board Chair.
• The resolution reflects changes to the future year compensation based on the County Elected Official Compensation policy, adopted by the Lake County Board on April 9, 2024.

RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Illinois Law provides that the County Board shall fix the compensation of elected officials; and
WHEREAS, Illinois Law provides that the County Board shall set the compensation for elected officials not less than six months before those officials take office; and
WHEREAS, it is now necessary to set the compensation for the Circuit Clerk, and Coroner for fiscal years 2025 through 2028; and
WHEREAS, based on the election cycle, it is now necessary to set the compensation for County Board Members and for the County Board Chair; and
WHEREAS, the compensation provided below is established per the County Board’s County Elected Official Compensation Policy, adopted on April 9, 2024 by the Lake County Board; and
WHEREAS, a 4% increase was used that is consistent with the County Board approved increase for non-union employees in the FY24 Approved Annual Budget.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that the annual salary for the Circuit Clerk, and Coroner shall be as follows for the fiscal years indicated:
o For fiscal year 2025: $134,348 per annum;
o For fiscal year 2026: $134,348 per annum;
o For fiscal year 2027: $134,348 per annum;
o For fiscal year 2028: $134,348 per annum.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois that the compensation for the County Board Members with four-year terms beginning in December 2024 shall be:
o For fiscal year 2025: $43,018 per annum;
o For fiscal year 2026: $43,018 per annum;
o For fiscal year 2027: $44,739 per annum;
o For fiscal year 2028: $44,739 per annum.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the compensation for the County Board Chair shall be as follows for the fiscal years indicated:
o For fiscal year 2025: $101,304 per annum;
o For fiscal year 2026: $101,304 per annum.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a $7,000 annual auto allowance be authorized to the County Board Chair.
