Staff Summary
• The Department owns and operates a 150,000 gallon elevated water tower in Fox Lake Hills and a 500,000 gallon elevated water tower in Vernon Hills.
• Each of these water towers require refurbishment to extend their useful life, which work will include repainting, addition of ladders and safety railings and replacement of cathodic protection systems.
• The County received responsive bids from four (4) contractors for this work and Jetco, Ltd. of Prospect Heights, IL submitted the lowest responsive and responsible bid and has performed quality work on prior County contracts.
• This resolution authorizes and directs the County Purchasing agent to execute a contract with Jetco, Ltd., of Prospect Heights, IL, in the amount of $363,910 for the Fox Lake Hills and Vernon Hills Water Towers Refurbishment Project.

WHEREAS, the County of Lake (County) owns and operates twelve (12) water systems throughout Lake County; and
WHEREAS, the County owns and operates several water towers that serve the customers of these water systems; and
WHEREAS, these water towers must be repaired, maintained and refurbished on a periodic basis; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with the Rules of this County Board, bids were called for by publication for the Fox Lake Hills/Vernon Hills Water Tower Refurbishment Project; and
WHEREAS, subsequent to said publication, invitations to bid were extended to ten (10) contractors; and
WHEREAS, sealed bids were received and publicly opened in the office of the Public Works Department on Thursday, June 24, 2010, at 2:00 p.m., and the bid prices were as follows:

WHEREAS, Jetco, Ltd., is the low responsive, responsible bidder in the total amount of $ 363,910.00.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that the Purchasing Agent is hereby authorized and directed to execute a contract with Jetco, Ltd., of Prospect Heights, IL, in the amount of $ 363,910.00 for the Fox Lake Hills/Vernon Hills Water Tower Refurbishment Project and charging the costs thereof to Accounts No. 610-4865410-48310 and 610-4833011-48310.
