· Washington Street, from Cedar Lake Road to Hainesville Road, Widening and Reconstruction: IDOT Agreement and Appropriation.
· This improvement will provide increased traffic capabilities by roadway widening to three lanes.
· The County has been allocated federal funds to widen and reconstruct Washington Street, from Cedar Lake Road to Hainesville Road, and IDOT administers all federal highway funds.
· This agreement provides that IDOT will pay approximately 65% of the construction cost, and that the County will be eligible to receive approximately 65% reimbursement for the construction engineering cost.
· This resolution also appropriates $4,015,000 of ¼% Sales Tax for Transportation and Public Safety funds.

R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Washington Street, County Highway 45, is a designated route on the County highway system; and
WHEREAS, the State of Illinois and Lake County believe it would be beneficial to the safety and welfare of the motoring public if of Washington Street, from Cedar Lake Road to Hainesville Road, could be improved by widening and reconstruction; and
WHEREAS, the State of Illinois and Lake County are desirous of entering into an agreement to utilize federal highway funds for the above construction and Phase III construction engineering services, setting forth the terms and obligations to each agency, a draft copy of which is attached hereto; and
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by this Lake County Board, that the County Board Chair, the County Clerk and the County Engineer of Lake County are authorized, and they are directed to execute an agreement and any subsequent amendments thereto, pertaining to the financing of the above-named improvement.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Engineer shall transmit, in writing, the final agreement, and any amendments, to be executed by the County Board Chair and the County Clerk.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that there is appropriated $4,015,000 of ¼% Sales Tax for Transportation and Public Safety funds, and designated as Section 05-00121-07-WR.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this agreement, and any amendments, when executed in their final form, be submitted to the Illinois Department of Transportation for their approval and final processing.
