R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, pursuant to authority granted by this Board of Lake County, the County Engineer heretofore called for sealed bids by publication for the relocation and reconstruction of Peterson Road at IL Rte. 60 and designated as Section 00-00098-11-CH; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to said publication calling for said bids, sealed bids were received and opened on October 26, at 10:00 a.m., at the Lake County Division of Transportation in Libertyville, Illinois, a tabulation of said bids being as follows:
• Lake County Grading, Libertyville, IL $5,623,534.90
• Berger Excavating Contractors, Inc., Wauconda, IL $5,747,070.25
• Pirtano Construction Co., Addison, IL $5,795,849.50
• Curran Contracting Construction Co., Ringwood, IL $5,952,008.18
• A Lamp Concrete Contractors, Inc., Schaumburg, IL $6,882,828.65
WHEREAS, the Public Works and Transportation Committee, the County Engineer, and the Purchasing Agent have examined each bid, and it appears that the lowest responsible bidder is Lake County Grading, Libertyville, Illinois, based on estimated quantities and unit prices; and
WHEREAS, this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, by prior resolution at its meeting of September 14, 2010, appropriated $11,040,000 of ¼% Sales Tax for Transportation and Public Safety funds for the improvement of the aforesaid section.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that a contract be awarded to said, Lake County Grading, Libertyville, Illinois, in accordance with their bid being $5,623,534.90 based on estimated quantities and unit prices and that the Purchasing Agent, the County Clerk and the County Engineer of Lake County be authorized, and they are hereby directed, to enter into a contract with said low bidder for the relocation and reconstruction of Peterson Road at IL Rte. 60 and designated as Section 00-00098-11-CH.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that inasmuch as such estimated quantities are the best approximation that can be determined at this time these quantities may be added to, deducted from or modified from in the final determination of the contract cost in accordance with Chapter 605 of the Illinois Compiled Statutes, Act 5, Section 5-205.2 without further Board action provided the final cost chargeable under the funds appropriated does not exceed the appropriations.
