•                     Lake County desires to enter into a contract with Stuckey Construction Co., Inc., Waukegan, IL, for remodeling of the Public Defender’s Offices.

•                     Invitations to Bid were sent to ten (10) vendors.

•                     Bids were received from eight (8) vendors.

•                     Stuckey Construction Co., Inc., is the lowest responsive and responsible bidder.

•                     Other bids received ranged from $1,749,000 to $2,396,601.  One non-responsive bid received.

•                     This work will cost the County $1,728,728.00 to be charged to account #101-1103265-82020-000-000-000-0000.

Body

                     WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 4-102 of the Purchasing Ordinance of Lake County, IL bids were called for by publication for Remodeling of the Public Defender Offices located at 14 S. County St., Waukegan, IL; and

                     WHEREAS, subsequent to said publication, invitations for bids were extended to ten (10) vendors; and

                     WHEREAS, sealed bids were received from eight (8) vendors and opened in the County Building, Waukegan, Illinois on Wednesday, August 20, 2008, at 2:00 p.m.; and

                     WHEREAS, Stuckey Construction Co., Inc, Waukegan, IL is the lowest responsive and responsible bidder in the amount of $1,728,728.00; other bids were received from Happ Builders, Waukegan, IL, $1,749,000.00, Car-Min Construction Co., Waukegan, IL $1,765,000.00, Boller Construction Co., Inc., $1,787,000.00, Rasch Construction & Engineering, Kenosha, WI, $1,912,900.00, Camosy, Inc, Waukegan, IL ,$1,975,000.00, R. Rudnick & Co., Wheeling, IL

$2,396,601.00 and a non-responsive bid from Construction Solutions of Illinois, Inc., Alsip, IL, $1.727,723.00.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, authorizing the Purchasing Agent to enter into an agreement with Stuckey Construction Co., Inc, Waukegan., IL, for Remodeling of the Public Defender Offices in the total amount of $1,728,728.00 charging to account #101-1103265-82020-000-000-000-0000 and requests its adoption.
