· This project would connect the existing bike paths west of Illinois Route 21 to the bike path over the Des Plaines River and also connect to the Lake County Forest Preserve District's Des Plaines River Trail.
· A consultant will be utilized to undertake Phase I preliminary engineering services to determine the final recommended improvement.
· This resolution authorizes the execution of professional services agreement with Christopher Burke Engineering, Ltd, Rosemont, Illinois for Phase I preliminary engineering services and appropriates $255,000 of County Bridge Tax funds.

R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Deerfield Road, County Highway 11, is a designated route on the county highway system; and
WHEREAS, there presently exists a bike path along Deerfield Road over the Des Plaines River; and
WHEREAS, Lake County, by and through its Division of Transportation, now desires to construct a bike path along Deerfield Road from IL Rte 21 to the Des Plaines River Trail, to connect the existing Deerfield Parkway Bike Path west of Illinois Route 21 to the Deerfield Road Bike Path over the Des Plaines River and to the Lake County Forest Preserve District's Des Plaines River Trail; and
WHEREAS, it is advisable that a firm be employed to provide Phase I preliminary engineering services for the said proposed bike path; and
WHEREAS, Lake County, by and through its Division of Transportation, has selected a professional engineering services firm in accordance with the Local Government Professional Services Selection Act, 50 ILCS 510/1 et. seq.; and
WHEREAS, Christopher Burke Engineering, Ltd, Rosemont, Illinois, are consulting engineers skilled in the provision of said Phase I preliminary engineering services.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY this Lake County Board, that Christopher Burke Engineering, Ltd, Rosemont, Illinois, be employed to provide said Phase I preliminary engineering services, and that the County Board Chair, the County Clerk and the County Engineer of Lake County are authorized and they are directed to execute, on behalf of Lake County, an agreement for Phase I preliminary engineering services between Lake County and Christopher Burke Engineering, Ltd, Rosemont, Illinois for a bike path along Deerfield Road from IL Rte 21 to the Des Plaines River Trail, to connect the existing Deerfield Parkway Bike Path west of Illinois Route 21 to the Deerfield Road Bike Path over the Des Plaines River and to the Lake County Forest Preserve District's Des Plaines River Trail; a draft copy of which is attached hereto, and such authorization shall include any necessary subsequent amendments.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Engineer shall transmit in writing the final agreement to be executed by the County Board Chair and the County Clerk.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that there is hereby appropriated $255,000 of County Bridge Tax funds for these Phase I preliminary engineering services designated as Section 10-00038-05-BT.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this agreement be administered in accordance with Chapter 605, Act 5, Section 5-205.2, of the Illinois Compiled Statutes without further Board action providing the final contract cost chargeable under the funds appropriated does not exceed the appropriations provided.
