· Peterson Road from Illinois Route 83 to Franklin Boulevard will be improved from a two-lane roadway to a four-lane divided roadway with concrete pavement, landscaped median, the installation of new traffic signals, the signal interconnection with Lake County PASSAGE, and a bike path on the north side.
· This improvement is included in the 2013 Program.
· Before a project letting can be held, an appropriation of $9,240,000 of ¼% Sales Tax for Transportation and Public Safety funds, $3,720,000 of Matching Tax funds, $3,000,000 of County Bridge Tax funds and $240,000 of Motor Fuel Tax funds is necessary.

R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Peterson Road, County Highway 20, is a designated route on the County highway system; and
WHEREAS, the free flow of traffic along Peterson Road is beneficial to the safety and welfare to the State of Illinois and the County as a whole; and
WHEREAS, Lake County believes it would be beneficial to the safety and welfare of the motoring public if Peterson Road, from Illinois Route 83 to Franklin Boulevard, could be improved from a two-lane roadway to a four-lane divided roadway with concrete pavement, landscaped median, the installation of new traffic signals, the signal interconnection with Lake County PASSAGE, and a bike path on the north side; and
WHEREAS, plans, specifications and estimates of costs for this improvement have been completed and this improvement is now ready to proceed to contract letting; and
WHEREAS, before a construction letting can be held, an appropriation of funds is needed.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by this Lake County Board, that there is hereby appropriated $9,240,000 of ¼% Sales Tax for Transportation and Public Safety funds, $3,720,000 of Matching Tax funds, $3,000,000 of County Bridge Tax funds and $240,000 of Motor Fuel Tax funds for the construction improvement of Peterson Road from Illinois Route 83 to Franklin Boulevard, and designated as Section 07-00098-17-WR.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this appropriation be processed by the County Engineer for final approval of the Illinois Department of Transportation in accordance with the "Agreement of Understanding" between the Illinois Department of Transportation and Lake County, dated January 18, 2013.
