                     Lake Avenue Rehabilitation (IL Rte. 173 to the Wisconsin State Line): Contract Award

                     This improvement includes the rehabilitation of the roadway, including the replacement of two (2) bridge decks.

                     A total of four (4) bids were received and the lowest responsible bidder is Curran Contracting Company, Crystal Lake, Illinois, in the amount of $1,715,586.11.

R E S O L U T I O N

 

                     WHEREAS, pursuant to authority granted by this Board of Lake County, the County Engineer heretofore called for sealed bids by publication for the rehabilitation of Lake Avenue (County Highway 68) from IL Rte. 173 to the Wisconsin state line, including the replacement of two (2) bridge decks, and designated as Section 08-00148-02-FP; and

 

                     WHEREAS, pursuant to said publication calling for said bids, sealed bids were received and opened on October 26, at 10:00 a.m., at the Lake County Division of Transportation in Libertyville, Illinois, a tabulation of said bids being as follows:

 

                     Curran Contracting Company, Crystal Lake, IL                     $1,715,586.11

                     Campanella & Sons, Inc., Wadsworth, IL                     $1,883,013.11

                     Berger Excavating Contractors, Inc., Wauconda, IL                     $1,978,197.72

                     A Lamp Concrete Contractors, Inc., Schaumburg, IL                     $2,083,579.67

                     

                     WHEREAS, the Public Works and Transportation Committee, the County Engineer, and the Purchasing Agent have examined each bid, and it appears that the lowest responsible bidder is Curran Contracting Company, Crystal Lake, Illinois, based on estimated quantities and unit prices; and

 

                     WHEREAS, this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, by prior resolution at its meeting of August 10, 2010, appropriated $717,000 of County Bridge funds and $1,348,000 of Matching Tax funds for the improvement of the aforesaid section.

 

                     NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that a contract be awarded to said Curran Contracting Company, Crystal Lake, Illinois, in accordance with their bid being $1,715,586.11 based on estimated quantities and unit prices and that the Purchasing Agent, the County Clerk and the County Engineer of Lake County be authorized, and they are hereby directed, to enter into a contract with said low bidder for the rehabilitation of Lake Avenue (County Highway 68) from IL Rte. 173 to the Wisconsin state line, including the replacement of two (2) bridge decks and designated as Section 08-00148-02-FP.

 

                     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that inasmuch as such estimated quantities are the best approximation that can be determined at this time these quantities may be added to, deducted from or modified from in the final determination of the contract cost in accordance with Chapter 605 of the Illinois Compiled Statutes, Act 5, Section 5-205.2 without further Board action provided the final cost chargeable under the funds appropriated does not exceed the appropriations.
