                     Beam  Replacements; Phase I: IDOT agreement.

•                     The county has been allocated federal HBP funds to repair this bridge

                     and IDOT administers all federal funds.

•                     Phase I (Preliminary Engineering) is required on all federally funded

                     improvements.

•                     This agreement provides for the county to receive 80% reimbursement for the cost of Phase I.

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, Arlington Heights Road (County Highway 79) is a designated route on the county highway system; and 

WHEREAS, the bridge deck beams of the bridge carrying northbound Arlington Heights Road over Buffalo Creek are at the end of their useful service life; and

WHEREAS, the State of Illinois and  Lake County believe it would be beneficial to the safety and welfare of the motoring public if said  bridge deck beams could be replaced; and

 WHEREAS, Phase I studies are required to utilize federal highway funds for the above-proposed improvements; and

WHEREAS, the State of Illinois and Lake County are desirous of entering into an agreement to utilize federal highway funds for the above-proposed Phase I engineering  services (Preliminary Engineering) setting forth the terms and obligations to each agency, a draft of copy of which is attached hereto. 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Chair of the Lake County Board, the County Clerk and the County Engineer of Lake County are authorized and they are hereby directed to execute an agreement pertaining to the financing of the above-named improvement. The County Engineer shall transmit in writing the final agreement to be executed by the Chair of the Lake County Board and the County Clerk, and grant plan and specification approval to the Illinois Department of Transportation.   This improvement is designated as Section 05-00193-04-BR.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this agreement when executed in its final form be submitted to the Illinois Department of Transportation for their approval and final processing.
