Resolution setting the compensation for certain County-wide Elected Office holders.
Staff Summary
· Pursuant to 55 ILCS 5/4-6001, the County Board sets the compensation for elected officials no less than six months before those officials take office.
· At this time, it is necessary to set compensation for the following offices: County Clerk, Sheriff, and Treasurer for the years 2015 through 2018.
· Additionally, pursuant to 105 ILCS 5/3-2.5 County boards may provide for additional compensation for the Regional Superintendent of Schools, which is also provided for in this resolution.
Body
WHEREAS, Illinois Law provides that the County Board shall fix the compensation of the County Clerk, Sheriff, and Treasurer, with the salary of the State's Attorney to be established as prescribed by Statute by the Compensation Review Board of the State; and
WHEREAS, Illinois Law also provides that County Boards may provide additional compensation for Regional Superintendent of Schools; and
WHEREAS, Illinois Law provides that the County Board shall set the compensation for elected officials no less than six months before those officials take office; and
WHEREAS, it is now necessary to set the compensation for the aforementioned offices for the years 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018; and
WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of your Financial and Administrative Committee that the compensation set forth below for the respective elected office holders be approved by this County Board.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that the annual salary for the County Clerk and Treasurer elected on November 4, 2014, shall be as follows for the years indicated:
For the Year 2015: $ 121,712 per annum
For the Year 2016: $ 121,712 per annum
For the Year 2017: $ 124,755 per annum
For the Year 2018: $ 127,874 per annum
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the annual salary for the Lake County Sheriff shall be as follows for the years indicated:
For the Year 2015: $ 154,942 per annum, (includes $ 4,500 for the Supervisor of Safety)
For the Year 2016: $ 154,942 per annum, (includes $ 4,500 for the Supervisor of Safety)
For the Year 2017: $ 158,703 per annum, (includes $ 4,500 for the Supervisor of Safety)
For the Year 2018: $ 162,558 per annum, (includes $ 4,500 for the Supervisor of Safety)
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, pursuant to 105 ILCS 5/3-2.5, that the County Board desires to provide additional compensation for the Regional Superintendent of Schools as follows:
For August 2015 - July 2016 $12,248
For August 2016 - July 2017 $12,248
For August 2017 - July 2018 $15,291
For August 2018 to the end of the term $18,410
