Joint resolution authorizing an agreement with Amec Foster Wheeler Environment and Infrastructure, Inc., Chicago, Illinois, at a cost of $77,844, for professional services for the provision of Phase II design engineering services to stabilize an existing sheet piling wall adjacent to the multi-use path on the north side of Grass Lake Road, appropriating $90,000 of Matching Tax funds, and designated as Section 16-00059-11-BR.

 

Staff Summary

                     Grass Lake Road 2018 Retaining Wall Maintenance, Phase II Design Engineering Services: Consultant Agreement and Appropriation.

                     This project includes stabilizing an existing sheet piling wall, adjacent to the multi-use path, on the north side of Grass Lake Road. 

                     A consultant will be utilized to undertake Phase II design engineering services, including a geotechnical investigation and report which will be used during the design process.

                     In accordance with the Local Government Professional Services Selection Act, the selected, and recommended, firm is Amec Foster Wheeler Environment and Infrastructure, Inc., Chicago, Illinois, with a cost of $77,844.

                     This resolution authorizes the execution of the agreement with Amec Foster Wheeler Environment and Infrastructure, Inc., and appropriates $90,000 of Matching Tax funds for these services.

 

Body

R E S O L U T I O N

 

WHEREAS, Grass Lake Road, County Highway 18, is a designated route on the County highway system; and

 

WHEREAS, there is a retaining wall on the north side of Grass Lake Road that is in poor condition and is in need of repair in order to prevent failure; and

 

WHEREAS, it is advisable that a firm be employed to provide professional services to determine appropriate repair strategies for said retaining wall; and

                     

WHEREAS, Lake County, by and through its Division of Transportation, has selected a professional engineering services firm, Amec Foster Wheeler Environment and Infrastructure, Inc., Chicago, Illinois, in accordance with the Local Government Professional Services Selection Act, for said design engineering services.

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by this Lake County Board, that Amec Foster Wheeler Environment and Infrastructure, Inc., Chicago, Illinois, be employed to provide professional design engineering services for the provision of Phase II design engineering services to stabilize an existing sheet piling wall adjacent to the multi-use path on the north side of Grass Lake Road at a cost of $77,844 and that the County Board Chair, the County Clerk and the County Engineer of Lake County are authorized and they are directed to execute, on behalf of Lake County, a contract, and any amendments, for the provision of said engineering services for the retaining wall repair with Amec Foster Wheeler Environment and Infrastructure, Inc., Chicago, Illinois, a draft copy is attached hereto.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Engineer shall transmit, in writing, the final agreement, and any amendments, to be executed by the County Board Chair and the County Clerk.  

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that there is hereby appropriated $90,000 of Matching Tax funds for these engineering services, and designated as Section 16-00059-11-BR.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this agreement be administered in accordance with Chapter 605, Act 5, Section 5-205.2 of the Illinois Compiled Statutes without further Board action providing the final contract cost chargeable under the funds appropriated herein does not exceed the appropriation aforesaid.
