Staff Summary

                     Cedar Lake Road, Illinois Route 120 to Nippersink Road; Phase II: Change Order No. 1 and Supplemental Appropriation.

                     Cedar Lake Road, from Illinois Route 120 to Nippersink Road, needs to be reconstructed and widened.

                     Cedar Lake Road, from Illinois Route 120 to Nippersink Road, Phase II design engineering is under contract with Crawford, Murphy & Tilley, Inc., of Aurora, Illinois, in the amount of $543,160.20.

                     Additional engineering services are needed, to the original scope of work, including additional coordination with the Lake County Forest Preserve, work related to the St. Joseph’s Church site, south end path design/culvert modifications, and staging associated with the main culvert replacement.

                     Change orders need to be approved by the standing committees for cumulative net increases over 10 percent.

                     This Lake County Board, at its meeting of May 12, 2015, approved $655,000 of ¼% Sales Tax for Transportation funds for these design engineering services.

                     This resolution appropriates a supplemental amount of $70,000 of ¼% Sales Tax for Transportation funds to cover Change Order Number One in the amount of $170,108.25.

R E S O L U T I O N

 

WHEREAS, this Lake County Board, at its meeting of May 12, 2015, approved $655,000 of ¼% Sales Tax for Transportation funds for Phase II design engineering services for the roadway reconstruction of Cedar Lake Road, from Illinois Route 120 to Nippersink Road; and

 

WHEREAS, the Phase II design engineering services for the roadway reconstruction of Cedar Lake Road, from Illinois Route 120 to Nippersink Road, is under contract with Crawford, Murphy & Tilley, Inc., of Aurora, Illinois, in the amount of $543,160.20; and

 

WHEREAS, additional engineering services are needed to the original scope of work, including additional coordination with the Lake County Forest Preserve, work related to the St. Joseph’s Church site, south end path design/culvert modifications, and staging associated with the main culvert replacement; and

 

WHEREAS, a supplemental appropriation of funds is necessary for the additional scope of engineering services; and

 

WHEREAS, the Lake County Purchasing Ordinance requires the Public Works and Transportation Committee and the Finance and Administrative Committee to approve change orders with cumulative totals above 10% of the original contract.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by this Lake County Board, that a supplemental appropriation of $70,000 of ¼% Sales Tax for Transportation funds for Phase II design engineering services for the roadway reconstruction of Cedar Lake Road, from Illinois Route 120 to Nippersink Road, approving change order No. 1 in the amount of $170,108.25, and designated as Section 08-00065-02-RS.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution being presented to the Lake County Board for approval, the Public Works and Transportation Committee, and Finance and Administrative Committee hereby have approved Change Order Number One.
