Joint resolution authorizing the acceptance of a state fiscal year (SFY) 2023 grant awarded by the Illinois General Assembly, through the Illinois Attorney General’s Office (AG) to the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office for costs associated with the implementation of victim text messaging software used to inform victims of important dates and times of criminal trials, including an emergency appropriation of $30,000 in grant funds.

 

Staff Summary

                     The Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office has been awarded $30,000 in grant funds from the Illinois General Assembly through the Illinois Attorney General’s Office.

                     The grant term is January 1, 2023 through June 30, 2023.

                     The Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office will use the funds to implement victim text messaging software in the Lake County.

                     Grant program funding in the amount of $30,000 will support the creation and implementation of texting software into existing State’s Attorney’s Office infrastructure/software.

                     The source of funding for this texting project is 100 percent grant funds; no matching funding is required.

                     If funding for the services end, and new funding is not secured, the services will be eliminated.

RESOLUTION

 

WHEREAS, the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office has been awarded a SFY 2023 Grant from Illinois General Assembly through the Illinois AG Office, for the time period of January 1, 2023 through June 30, 2023, in the amount of $30,000.00; and

 

WHEREAS, the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office will use this funding to implement victim text messaging software used to inform crime victims of important dates and times of criminal trials; and

 

WHEREAS, the AG Grant is in the amount of $30,000 and it is necessary to appropriate this amount; and

 

WHEREAS, the State’s Attorney’s Office recommends that the Chairman of the County Board, the State’s Attorney and the Treasurer be authorized to execute the necessary documents to accept and execute the grant.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that the AG Grant awarded to the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office by the Illinois General Assembly through the Illinois AG Office is hereby accepted; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that $30,000 is hereby authorized for the SFY23 AG grant program in expenditure account 101-3300010-71960 and revenue account 101-3300010-45333; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the State’s Attorney shall serve as the project director for the program, and accurate records of all necessary grant compliance requirements shall be kept by the State’s Attorney’s Office.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Chairman of the Board, the Lake County State’s Attorney, and the Lake County Treasurer are hereby authorized to execute the necessary documentation in order to accept the grant renewal.
