R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Cedar Lake Road, County Highway 28, is a designated route on the County highway system; and
WHEREAS, Lake County PASSAGE is a cooperative initiative of IDOT and Lake County to implement the federal initiative for the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) in Lake County; and
WHEREAS, Lake County and the State of Illinois believe it would be beneficial to the safety and welfare of the motoring public if traffic signals situated along Cedar Lake Road, from Rollins Road to South Rosedale Court, could be modernized and interconnected with Lake County PASSAGE; and
WHEREAS, the State of Illinois and Lake County are desirous of entering into an agreement to utilize federal highway funds for 80% of the cost of construction of the above-proposed improvement and Phase III construction engineering services, a draft copy of which is attached hereto.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by this Lake County Board, that the County Board Chair, the County Clerk and the County Engineer of Lake County are authorized, and they are directed to execute on behalf of Lake County, an agreement, and any subsequent amendments thereto, pertaining to the financing of the above-named improvement.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Engineer shall transmit, in writing, the final agreement and any amendments to be executed by the County Board Chair and the County Clerk.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that there is appropriated $130,000 of ¼% Sales Tax funds for Transportation and Public Safety funds for the County's cost of the construction of this improvement and Phase III engineering services, and designated as Section 12-00999-17-TL.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this agreement, when executed in its final form, be submitted to IDOT for their approval and final processing.
