R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Pulaski Drive (County Highway 13) is a designated route on the county highway system; and
WHEREAS, inspections by Lake County engineering staff identified areas of cracks and spalls on the underside of the Pulaski Drive bridge over US Rte 41; and
WHEREAS, Bloom Companies, LLC was hired to determine the extent of delaminated areas on the underside of the of the Pulaski Drive bridge over US Rte. 41 and make recommendations on repairs and provide a cost estimate for the repairs ; and
WHEREAS, inspections and estimates of costs for this repair are nearing completion by Bloom Companies, LLC; and
WHEREAS, it would be beneficial to the safety and welfare of the motoring public if the underside concrete deck of the bridge carrying Pulaski Drive over US Rte. 41 could be expeditiously repaired including the placing of permanent underdeck shielding in some areas; and
WHEREAS, an appropriation of funds is necessary.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that there is hereby appropriated $110,000 of County Bridge Tax funds for the repair of the underside concrete deck and the placement of permanent underdeck shielding in some areas of the bridge carrying Pulaski Drive over US Rte. 41 and designated as Section 08-00196-08-BR.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Board acknowledges that the County Engineer will be proceeding in an expeditious fashion, as authorized under the county purchasing ordinance, to have accomplished the repairs to the underside of the concrete deck and the placement of permanent underdeck shielding in some areas.
