Title

Joint resolution adopting Lake County’s Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan.

Staff Summary

Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requires the removal of existing barriers in public places that impact the ability for individuals with disabilities to participate in government programs, services and activities.

In October 2024, the Lake County Board approved a contract to develop an Americans with Disabilities Act Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan to document Lake County’s past and ongoing efforts to comply with the ADA and to establish a clear, prioritized roadmap for eliminating barriers to accessibility within the County’s jurisdiction.

Lake County intends to implement accessibility improvements through website accommodations and planned capital improvement projects, including facility renovation projects, roadway projects, intersection/signal projects, and other infrastructure investments where accessibility upgrades can be incorporated into the project scope.

To support tracking, accountability, and follow-through on corrective actions identified in the ADA Transition Plan, Lake County will create an ADA Implementation Record documenting its ongoing efforts to achieve compliance with the ADA.

This resolution adopts Lake County’s Americans with Disabilities Act Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan.
