Joint resolution authorizes the execution of an agreement with the NICOR Gas Company to relocate gas main along IL Route 60 to accommodate the upcoming relocation of Peterson Road at IL Rte. 60.  This resolution also appropriates $125,000 of ¼% Sales Tax for Transportation and Public Safety funds and is designated as Section 00-00098-11-CH.

                     The relocation of Peterson Rd at IL Rte. 60 is included in the county’s 2009-2014 Highway Improvement Program.

                     The NICOR Gas Company has 1300” of 4” diameter gas main located within a private easement outside of the public right of way that must be relocated to accommodate the upcoming highway improvement.

                     The relocation of the gas main is proposed to be done before the construction of the highway improvement.

                     It will be necessary for Lake County to reimburse the NICOR Gas Company for the cost to relocate their facilities, estimated to cost $106,556.

                     This resolution authorizes the execution of an agreement with NICOR that provides for the relocation of their facilities and also appropriates $125,000 of ¼% Sales Tax for Transportation and Public Safety funds for this utility relocation.

RESOLUTION

 

WHEREAS, Peterson Road (County Highway 20) is a designated route on the county highway system; and

     

WHEREAS, the free flow of traffic along Peterson Road is beneficial to the safety and welfare to the State of Illinois and the county as a whole; and

 

WHEREAS, Lake County believes it would be beneficial to the safety and welfare of the motoring public if Peterson Road at its intersection with IL Rte. 60 could be relocated; and

 

 WHEREAS, the NICOR Gas Company has a natural gas main located within a private easement outside of the public right of way in the area of the improvement; and

 

WHEREAS it will be necessary to relocate the said natural gas line to accommodate the upcoming relocation of Peterson Road at IL Rte. 60; and

 

WHEREAS it will be necessary for Lake County to reimburse the NICOR Gas Company for the cost to relocate their facilities, estimate to cost $106,556; and

 

WHEREAS, the NICOR Gas Company and Lake County are desirous of entering into an agreement to provide for the relocation of the said natural gas line setting forth the terms and obligations to each agency, a draft copy of which is attached hereto; and 

 

WHEREAS, in order to start the relocation work an appropriation of funds is needed.

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois that the Chair of the County Board, the County Clerk and the County Engineer of Lake County are authorized and they are directed to execute an agreement pertaining to the terms and conditions of the above-named utility relocation. The County Engineer shall transmit in writing the final agreement to be executed by the Chair of the Lake County Board and the County Clerk.  

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that there is appropriated $125,000 of ¼ % Sales Tax funds for Transportation for this utility relocation and is designated as Section 00-00098-11-CH.
