R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, pursuant to authority granted by this Lake County Board, the County Engineer heretofore called for sealed bids by publication for the concrete pavement patching and concrete curb and gutter replacement locations on Deerfield Parkway between IL Route 83 and IL Route 21 and designated as Section 11-00000-09-GM; and
WHEREAS, in addition to the base bid work described above, the added alternative bidding process was used for bidders to provide costs for including Alternative A work and Alternative B work, with a total contract award limit of $170,000; and
WHEREAS, added Alternative A work includes curb and gutter replacement locations along Hunt Club Road between IL Route 120, Belvidere Road, and IL Route 132, Grand Avenue; and
WHEREAS, added Alternative B work includes curb and gutter replacement locations along 22nd Street between IL Route 43 and IL Route 41; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to said publication calling for said bids, sealed bids were received and opened on May 24, 2011, at 10:00 a.m., at the Lake County Division of Transportation in Libertyville, Illinois; and
WHEREAS, a tabulation of said bids compared to the total contract award limit of $170,000 resulted in the work to be done consisting of the base bid work and Alternative A work, the combined bid tabulations being as follows:

WHEREAS, the Public Works and Transportation Committee, the County Engineer, and the Purchasing Agent have examined each bid, and it appears that the lowest responsible bidder is Greg Greenhill Construction Co., Inc., Ringwood, Illinois, their bid being $159,788.05 based on estimated quantities and unit prices; and
WHEREAS, this Lake County Board, by prior resolution at its meeting of February 8, 2011, appropriated $200,000 of Motor Fuel Tax funds for the improvement of the aforesaid section.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by this Lake County Board, that a contract be awarded to said, Greg Greenhill Construction Co., Inc., Ringwood, Illinois in accordance with their bid being $159,788.05 based on estimated quantities and unit prices and that the Purchasing Agent, the County Clerk and the County Engineer of Lake County be authorized, and they are hereby directed, to enter into a contract with said low bidder for the base bid work of concrete pavement patching and concrete curb and gutter replacement locations on Deerfield Parkway between IL Route 83 and IL Route 21 and Alternative A work, as described above, and designated as Section 11-00000-09-GM.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that in as much as such estimated quantities are the best approximation that can be determined at this time these quantities may be added to, deducted from or modified from in the final determination of the contract cost in accordance with Chapter 605 of the Illinois Compiled Statutes, Act 5, Section 5-205.2 without further Board action provided the final cost chargeable under the funds appropriated does not exceed the appropriations.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this award be processed by the County Engineer for final approval of the Illinois Department of Transportation in accordance with the "Agreement of Understanding" between the Illinois Department of Transportation and Lake County dated January 22, 2003.
