R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Grass Lake Road (County Highway 18) is a designated route on the county highway system; and
WHEREAS, Lake County by and through its Division of Transportation proposes to construct a bike path along the south side of Grass Lake Road connecting the Hastings Lake Forest Preserve Trail to the Lindenhurst Park District Trail System (the Hastings Lake Forest Preserve Connector); and
WHEREAS, Lake County, by and through its Division of Transportation, has applied for grant funding assistance from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources for the Hastings Lake Forest Preserve Connector; and
WHEREAS, Lake County Forest Preserve District has employed Christopher B. Burke Engineering Ltd., for design engineering services for the Lake County Forest Preserve Hastings Lake public access improvements; and
WHEREAS, the Division of Transportation has a satisfactory working relationship with said Christoper B. Burke Engineering, Ltd.; and
WHEREAS, the Lake County Forest Preserve District is agreeable to expanding the scope of these engineering services to include the design engineering services for that portion of the bike path along Grass Lake Road from N. Beck Road to the Hastings Lake Trailhead (the Hastings Lake Forest Preserve Connector), subject to reimbursement from the Lake County Division of Transportation; and
WHEREAS, it is deemed to be in the best interest of both the Lake County Division of Transportation and the Lake County Forest Preserve District if the design of said portion for the Grass Lake Road Bike Path be incorporated into the design engineering being provided by Christopher B. Burke Engineering Ltd. to the Lake County Forest Preserve District.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that there is hereby appropriated $35,000 of Matching Tax funds to provide for these engineering services and designated Section 09-00075-14-BT.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Engineer of Lake County is hereby authorized and directed to reimburse the Lake County Forest Preserve District for said design engineering services for that portion of the Grass Lake Road Bike Path from N. Beck Road to the Hastings Lake Trailhead.
