• Lake County Division of Transportation (LCDOT) will be using liquid calcium and magnesium chloride deicer/anti-icer with sugar beet molasses based corrosion inhibitor solution during the 2017 snow and ice season.
• Pursuant to Article 10-101 of the Lake County Purchasing Ordinance, Cooperative Purchasing, Lake County may participate in a cooperative purchasing agreement for the procurement of goods with one or more public procurement units in accordance with an agreement entered into between the participants.
• Staff has identified a joint purchasing opportunity through a recently awarded contract by Warren Township Highway Department with K-Tech Specialty Coating, Inc., of Ashley, Indiana, for the procurement of liquid calcium and magnesium chloride deicer/anti-icer with sugar beet molasses based corrosion inhibitor solution.
• The cooperative purchasing contract with K-Tech Specialty Coating, Inc., of Ashley, Indiana, is a unit price contract with LCDOT.
• This resolution appropriates $120,000 of Matching Tax funds for fiscal year 2017.

R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, in order to better preserve the pavement condition and the environment, the Division of Transportation will be using liquid calcium and magnesium chloride deicer/anti-icer with sugar beet molasses based corrosion inhibitor solution during the 2017 snow and ice season; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 10-101 of the Lake County Purchasing Ordinance, a cooperative purchasing contract has been identified for the purchase; and
WHEREAS, staff has identified a joint purchasing opportunity through a recently awarded contract by Warren Township Highway Department with K-Tech Specialty Coating, Inc., of Ashley, Indiana, for the procurement of liquid calcium and magnesium chloride deicer/anti-icer with sugar beet molasses based corrosion inhibitor solution;
WHEREAS, an appropriation of funds is needed.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by this Lake County Board, that the Purchasing Agent is authorized to enter into a unit price contract with K-Tech Specialty Coating, Inc., of Ashley, Indiana, for liquid calcium and magnesium chloride deicer/anti-icer with sugar beet molasses based corrosion inhibitor solution.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that there is hereby appropriated $120,000 of Matching Tax funds for this procurement, and designated as Section 17-00000-19-GM.
