                     Hunt Club Road at Stearns School Road; Intersection Improvement: Contract Award

                     The intersection will be widened and realigned with the addition of three (3) turn lanes and traffic signal upgrades.

                     This project will include resurfacing the pavement at the intersection and on Hunt Club Road south to IL Route 132.

                     A total of 6 bids were received and the lowest responsible bidder is Peter Baker and Son, Co., Lake Bluff, Illinois, in the amount of $1,115,116.55.

R E S O L U T I O N

 

WHEREAS, pursuant to authority granted by this Board of Lake County, the County Engineer heretofore called for sealed bids by publication for the intersection improvement of Hunt Club Road at Stearns School Road to be widened and realigned with the addition of three (3) turn lanes, traffic signal upgrades and resurfacing the pavement at the intersection and on Hunt Club Road south to IL Route 132 and designated as Section 00-00095-15-CH; and

 

WHEREAS, pursuant to said publication calling for said bids, sealed bids were received and opened on February 22, 2011, at 10:00 a.m., at the Lake County Division of Transportation in Libertyville, Illinois, a tabulation of said bids being as follows:

 

                     Peter Baker and Son, Co., Lake Bluff, Illinois                      $1,115,116.55

                     Curran Contracting Company, Crystal Lake, IL                     $1,159,455.74

                     Payne & Dolan, Inc., Antioch, IL                     $1,194,660.73

                     J. A. Johnson Paving Company, Arlington Heights, IL                     $1,264,700.67

                     Schroeder Asphalt Services, Inc., Huntley, IL                     $1,373,919.68

                     A Lamp Concrete Contractors, Inc., Schaumburg, IL                     $2,301,086.10

 

WHEREAS, the Public Works and Transportation Committee, the County Engineer, and the Purchasing Agent have examined each bid, and it appears that the lowest responsible bidder is Peter Baker and Son, Co., Lake Bluff, Illinois, based on estimated quantities and unit prices; and

 

WHEREAS, this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, by prior resolution at its meeting of September 14, 2010, appropriated $1,230,000 Matching Tax funds and $500,000 of County Bridge Tax funds for the improvement of the aforesaid section.

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that a contract be awarded to said, Peter Baker and Son, Co., Lake Bluff, Illinois, in accordance with their bid being $1,115,116.55 based on estimated quantities and unit prices and that the Purchasing Agent, the County Clerk and the County Engineer of Lake County be authorized, and they are hereby directed, to enter into a contract with said low bidder for the intersection improvement at Hunt Club Road at Stearns School Road and designated as Section 00-00095-15-CH.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that in as much as such estimated quantities are the best approximation that can be determined at this time, these quantities may be added to, deducted from or modified from in the final determination of the contract cost in accordance with Chapter 605 of the Illinois Compiled Statutes, Act 5, Section 5-205.2, without further Board action provided the final cost chargeable under the funds appropriated does not exceed the appropriations provided.
