Special recognition of David Stolman, former County Board Member and County Treasurer.

RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, a Buffalo Grove resident for nearly 50 years, David Stolman was an attorney who dedicated much of his adult life to public service, serving on the Lake County Board from 1992-2014, then serving as Board Chair from 2010-2012; and
WHEREAS, David Stolman received his bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Juris Doctor degree from DePaul University Law School; and
WHEREAS, David Stolman prided himself on being a true public servant, and made himself available to residents at community events and at the Treasurer’s Office; and
WHEREAS, David Stolman further demonstrated his commitment to Lake County by helping create Lake County Partners, a non-profit organization that collaborates with Lake County to develop the local economy by attracting, retaining and expanding businesses, creating and retaining quality jobs, stimulating capital investment, pursuing economic diversity and improving the county's business climate; and
WHEREAS, after 22 years on the Lake County Board, he was elected Lake County Treasurer in 2014 and served until 2018; and
WHEREAS, in partnership with the Chief County Assessment Office, the County Clerk’s Office, and the Communications Division, David Stolman created an informational insert to accompany tax bills to educate taxpayers on the property tax system, explain their bill, list contact information for their taxing bodies, and explain the exemption and assessment processes; and
WHEREAS, David Stolman demonstrated engagement with the community with positions at Congregation Beth Judea in Long Grove, the Northwest Suburban Lawyers, the Government Agencies Division of the Jewish United Fund, and the Northwest Suburban Jewish Community Center; and
WHEREAS, David Stolman was a bridge builder who strived to bring people together to meet goals, a sincere and committed public official who took his positions and responsibilities to heart, and a true role model who is dearly missed in the county.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RECOGNIZED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that former County Board Chair David Stolman, highlighted by Board Member Marah Altenberg, is recognized for his success and unrelenting efforts to make Lake County better for all residents; and
BE IT FURTHER RECOGNIZED, that today, we honor his memory almost one year after his passing and wish his family comfort and pride in his many accomplishments.
