R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Arlington Heights Road (County Highway 3) is a designated route on the County highway system; and
WHEREAS, the free flow of traffic along Arlington Heights Road is beneficial to the safety and welfare of the State of Illinois and the County as a whole; and
WHEREAS, the State of Illinois and Lake County believe it would be beneficial to the safety and welfare of the motoring public if the deck beams of the bridge carrying southbound Arlington Heights Road over Buffalo Creek are replaced; and
WHEREAS, Phase I and Phase II engineering have been completed and the project is ready for a contract letting; and
WHEREAS, Phase III construction engineering is required to utilize federal highway funds for the above-described improvement, which engineering will be provided by County engineering staff; and
WHEREAS, the State of Illinois and Lake County are desirous of an agreement to utilize federal highway funds for the above proposed construction and Phase III construction engineering services setting forth the terms and obligations to each agency, a draft of which is attached hereto; and
WHEREAS, in order to proceed to a construction letting, an appropriation of funds is needed along with approval of this agreement.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by this Lake County Board, that the County Board Chair, the County Clerk and the Acting County Engineer of Lake County are authorized and they are directed to execute an agreement, and any subsequent amendments required by IDOT thereto, pertaining to the financing of the above-named improvement.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Acting County Engineer shall transmit, in writing, the final agreement, and any amendments, to be executed by the County Board Chair and the County Clerk, and grant plan and specification approval to IDOT.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that there is appropriated $145,000 of Matching Tax funds and designated as Section 10-00193-07-BR.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this agreement, and any amendments, when executed in their final form be submitted to IDOT for their approval and final processing.
