                     Fairfield Road Throughway Improvement; Phase I: Consultant Agreement

                     The improvement of the intersection of IL Rte 134/Fairfield Rd/Metra RR is a contender for the transportation “challenge bonds” 2011 issuance.

                     The consultant will be utilized to undertake Phase I preliminary engineering services to determine the final recommended improvement.

                     The selected and recommended firm is HDR Engineering, Inc., Chicago, Illinois for a maximum cost of services described is $1,601,921.

                     This resolution appropriates $1,920,000 of Sales Tax for Transportation and Public Safety funds.

R E S O L U T I O N

 

WHEREAS, Fairfield Road (County Highway 49) at its intersection with IL Route 134/Metra Railroad is a designated route on the county highway system; and

 

WHEREAS, it would be beneficial for the safety and welfare of the motoring public if Fairfield Road at its intersection with IL Route 134/Metra Railroad could be improved to facilitate increased traffic capacities (Fairfield Road Throughway Improvement); and  

 

 WHEREAS, Phase I (Preliminary Engineering) studies are required for the proposed Fairfield Road Throughway Improvement; and

 

WHEREAS, it is advisable that a consultant engineering firm be employed to provide said Phase I engineering services (Preliminary Engineering); and

 

WHEREAS, Lake County by and through its Division of Transportation has selected a professional engineering services firm in accordance with the Local Government Professional Services Selection Act (50 ILCS 510/1 et. seq.); and  

 

WHEREAS, HDR Engineering Inc., Chicago, Illinois are consulting engineers skilled in the provision of said Phase I engineering services (Preliminary Engineering).

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that HDR Engineering Inc., Chicago, Illinois be employed to provide said Phase I engineering services (Preliminary Engineering), and that the Chair of the County Board, the County Clerk and the County Engineer of Lake County are authorized and they are directed to execute, on behalf of Lake County, an agreement for consultant engineering services between Lake County and HDR Engineering Inc., Chicago, Illinois. The County Engineer shall transmit in writing the final agreement to be executed by the Chair of the Lake County Board and the County Clerk.  

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that there is hereby appropriated $1,920,000 of Sales Tax for Transportation and Public Safety funds for these engineering services designated as Section 08-00104-08-BR.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this agreement be administered in accordance with Chapter 605, Act 5, Section 5-205.2 of the Illinois Compiled Statutes without further Board action providing the final contract cost chargeable under the funds appropriated herein does not exceed the appropriation aforesaid.
