• The Health Department received an additional $87,533 in grant funding for the period of March 1, 2026, through September 29, 2026, which was not previously appropriated because the grant resources were approved after the County’s adoption of the Fiscal Year 2026 budget.
• This funding will expand suicide prevention intervention services and increase the program’s capacity to respond to community behavioral health needs.
• These funds are additional funding to the original grant award and will support program operations for the suicide prevention call center.
• This will be used for the hiring of three additional staff positions to reduce call overflow, improve answer rates, and support suicide prevention intervention services.
• The grant funds will be administered in accordance with the terms and conditions of the award.
• If funding for the positions and services end, and new funding is not secured, the positions and services will be eliminated.

RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the Lake County Health Department and Community Health Center has received a grant increase for the Illinois Department of Human Services Suicide Prevention Call Center Enhancement Grant; and
WHEREAS, these dollars will provide an increase in services to Lake County with no impact on local taxes; and
WHEREAS, this grant will be used for three new positions that will be eliminated if or when this grant’s funding is no longer available and no other funding source outside of property tax dollars has been identified; and
WHEREAS, the additional funding amount totaling $87,533 for the period of March 1, 2026 through September 29, 2026, has not been previously appropriated, having been approved after adoption of the Fiscal Year 2026 budget; and
WHEREAS, the proposed appropriation will be fully offset by the above referenced items thereby not requiring the expenditure of local tax revenue.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that an emergency appropriation in the amount of $87,533 is hereby authorized in the Health Department Fiscal Year 2026 budget as identified on the listing of expense and revenue budget modifications attached hereto and made part hereof; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the revenue budgets as identified on the attached listing be modified as provided by increased funding from the following:
