R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Rollins Road (County Highway 31) is a designated route on the county highway system; and
WHEREAS, Lake County PASSAGE is a cooperative initiative of IDOT and Lake County to implement the federal initiative for the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) in Lake County; and
WHEREAS, Lake County and the State of Illinois believe it would be beneficial to the safety and welfare of the motoring public if traffic signals situated along Rollins Road, including Grand Ave and US Rte 12 (Lotus Dr to Sayton Rd) and along IL Rte 83 (US Rte 45 to Westmoreland Dr) could be modernized and interconnected with Lake County PASSAGE; and
WHEREAS, this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, at its meeting of March 8, 2005, authorized the execution of an agreement between Lake County and the State of Illinois for the costs of improvements for connection to Lake County PASSAGE associated with traffic signals owned by the state; and
WHEREAS, the State of Illinois and Lake County are desirous of entering into an agreement to utilize federal highway funds for the above-proposed improvement and Phase III engineering services (Construction Engineering), a draft copy of which is attached hereto.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that the Chair of the Lake County Board, the County Clerk and the County Engineer of Lake County are authorized and they are directed to execute on behalf of Lake County an agreement and any subsequent amendments thereto, pertaining to the financing of the above-named improvement. The County Engineer shall transmit in writing the final agreement to be executed by the Chair of the Lake County Board and the County Clerk.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that there is appropriated $750,000 of ¼ % Sales Tax funds for Transportation and Public Safety for construction of this improvement and Phase III engineering services and is designated as Section 09-00999-07-TL.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this agreement, when executed in its final form, be submitted to the Illinois Department of Transportation for their approval and final processing.
