Staff Summary
• The Health Department has been awarded six (6) new grants and has also received increased revenues from Behavioral Health, Community Health, Environmental Health and Primary Care Service Areas.
• These funds have not been previously appropriated because they were awarded after the adoption of the FY2008 budget.
• The new grants and additional revenue for the Health Department totals $1,859,488 and a complete list of the sources of these funds is included in the resolution.
Body
WHEREAS, the Lake County Health Department and Community Health Center has been awarded six new grants, grant increases, and other revenue increases delivered by our Community Health, Environmental Health, Behavioral Health and Primary Care Service Areas; and
WHEREAS, these dollars will provide a legitimate increase in services to Lake County with no impact on local taxes; and
WHEREAS, these grant and additional funds totaling $1,859,488 have not been previously appropriated, having been awarded after adoption of the Fiscal Year 2008 budget; and
WHEREAS, the proposed appropriation will be fully offset by the above referenced items thereby not requiring the expenditure of local tax revenue.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois that an emergency appropriation in the amount of $1,859,488 is hereby authorized in the Health Department budget as identified on the listing of expense and revenue budget modifications attached hereto and made part hereof; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the revenue budgets as identified on the attached listing be modified as provided by increased funding from the following:
Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Services Administration Section 330 Grant Increase for $2,876;
IL. Department of Human Services, Teen Parent Services Grant Increase $22,120;
IL. Department of Human Services, Family Case Management Grant Increase $54,500;
IL. Department of Public Health, West Nile Virus Grant Increase $76,000;
IL. Environmental Protection Agency, Waukegan Water Quality Monitoring $32,640;
IL. Department of Public Health, Illinois Breast and Cervical Cancer Grant Increase $25,000;
IL. Department of Human Services, WIC Grant Increase $32,458;
IL. Department of Public Health, Illinois Breast & Cervical Cancer Grant Increase $61,021;
Target Corporation - Reach Out and Read Grant $5,000;
IL. Department of Public Health - Ticket for the Cure $10,418;
