                     Quentin Road at Ensell Road; Temporary Span-Wire Traffic Control Signals: Contract Award

                     Temporary span-wire traffic signals will be installed at the intersection of Quentin Road at Ensell Road and will be interconnected to the traffic control signals at IL Rte. 22 and Quentin Road.

                     A total of 5 bids were received and the lowest responsible bidder is Gaffney’s Protective Maintenance, Inc., Batavia, Illinois, in the amount of $139,508.25.

R E S O L U T I O N

 

WHEREAS, pursuant to authority granted by this Board of Lake County, the County Engineer heretofore called for sealed bids by publication for the installation of temporary span-wire traffic control signals at Quentin Road and Ensell Road and including an interconnect to the traffic signals at IL Rte. 22 and Quentin Road; and

 

WHEREAS, pursuant to said publication calling for said bids, sealed bids were received and opened on January 25, 2011 at 10:00 a.m., at the Lake County Division of Transportation in Libertyville, Illinois, a tabulation of said bids being as follows:

 

                     Gaffney's Protective Maintenance, Inc. Batavia, IL                     $139,508.25                     

                     Home Towne Electric, Inc., Lake Villa, IL                     $148,970.00

                     Meade Electric Compnay, Inc., McCook, IL                     $155,826.75

                     Thorne Electric, Inc., Carol Stream, IL                     $155,923.55

                     Hecker and Company, Inc., Wheeling, IL                     $158,924.20

                                                               

WHEREAS, the Public Works and Transportation Committee, the County Engineer, and the Purchasing Agent have examined each bid, and it appears that the lowest responsible bidder is Gaffney's Protective Maintenance, Inc. Batavia, IL, based on estimated quantities and unit prices;

 

WHEREAS, this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, by prior resolution at its meeting of January 11, 2011 appropriated $165,000 of Motor Fuel Tax funds for the improvement of the aforesaid section.

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that a contract be awarded to said, Gaffney's Protective Maintenance, Inc. Batavia, Illinois, in accordance with their bid being $139,508.25 based on estimated quantities and unit prices and that the Purchasing Agent, the County Clerk and the County Engineer of Lake County be authorized, and they are hereby directed to enter into a contract with said low bidder for the installation of temporary span-wire traffic control signals at Quentin Road and Ensell Road and including an interconnect to the traffic signals at IL Rte. 22 and Quentin Road and designated as Section 10-00090-13-TL.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that inasmuch as such estimated quantities are the best approximation that can be determined at this time these quantities may be added to, deducted from, or modified from in the final determination of the contract cost in accordance with Chapter 605 of the Illinois Compiled Statutes, Act 5, Section 5-205.2 without further Board action provided the final contract cost chargeable under the funds appropriated does not exceed the appropriation provided.
