Joint resolution authorizing the execution of a supplemental agreement between Lake County and MACTEC Engineering and Consulting Inc., Chicago, Illinois, for the provision of additional Phase I preliminary engineering services for the replacement of the deck beams of the bridge carrying northbound Arlington Heights Road over Buffalo Creek at a supplemental cost of services described of $4,050 and designated as Section 05-00193-04-BR.

Staff Summary

                     Arlington Heights Road Northbound over Buffalo Creek, Bridge Deck Beam Replacements: Supplemental Phase I:  Consultant Agreement.

                     The selected firm of MACTEC Engineering & Consulting Inc., Chicago, Illinois is proceeding with the Phase I engineering services.

                     IDOT has determined that it is necessary to expand Phase I engineering services to include a bridge scour analysis and an asbestos verification and associated reporting.

                     This resolution authorizes the execution of a supplemental agreement with MACTEC Engineering & Consulting Inc.

R E S O L U T I O N

 

WHEREAS, Arlington Heights Road (County Highway 79) is a designated route on the county highway system; and 

 

WHEREAS, it would be beneficial for the safety and welfare of the motoring public if the bridge deck beams of the bridge carrying northbound Arlington Heights Road over Buffalo Creek could be replaced; and 

 

WHEREAS, Phase I engineering services (Preliminary Engineering) are required for the proposed improvements; and

     

WHEREAS, this County Board of Lake County, Illinois at its meeting of August 12, 2008 authorized the execution of a Phase I (Preliminary Engineering) agreement with MACTEC Engineering & Consulting Inc., Chicago, Illinois, for said Phase I engineering studies and appropriated $45,000 of County Bridge Tax funds for these engineering services; and

 

WHEREAS, it has been determined by IDOT that it is necessary to expand the Phase I engineering services to include a bridge scour analysis and an asbestos verification and associated reporting; and

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED,  by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that the Chair of the County Board, the County Clerk, and the County Engineer of Lake County are authorized and they are directed to execute a supplemental agreement for consulting engineering services between Lake County and MACTEC Engineering & Consulting Inc., Chicago, Illinois, providing for said additional engineering services to include a bridge scour analysis and an asbestos verification and associated reporting and designated as Section 05-00193-04-BR .  The County Engineer shall transmit in writing the final agreement to be executed by the Chair of the Lake County Board and the County Clerk.  

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this agreement be administered in accordance with Chapter 605, Act 5, Section 5-205.2 of the Illinois Compiled Statutes without further Board action providing the final contract cost chargeable under the funds appropriated does not exceed the appropriations.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this supplemental agreement, when executed in its final form, be submitted to the Illinois Department of Transportation for their approval and final processing.
