R E S O L U T I O N
 
WHEREAS, pursuant to authority granted by this Lake County Board, the County Engineer heretofore called for sealed bids, by publication, for concrete pavement markings, where necessary, on various county highways and designated as Section 11-00000-19-GM; and
 
WHEREAS, in addition to the base bid work described above, the added alternative bidding process was used for bidders to provide costs for including Alternative A work, Alternative B work, and Alternative C work, with a total contract award limit of $30,000.
 
WHEREAS, added Alternative A work includes the intersection of Old McHenry Road and US Route 12; and
 
WHEREAS, added Alternative B work includes the intersection of Peterson Road and Harris Road; and
 
WHEREAS, added Alternative C work includes the intersection of Gilmer Road and IL Route 83; and
 
WHEREAS, pursuant to said publication and calling for said bids, sealed bids were received and opened on June 28, 2011, at 10:00 AM at the Lake County Division of Transportation in Libertyville, Illinois; and
 
WHEREAS, a tabulation of said bids compared to the total contract award limit of $30,000. resulted in the work to be done consisting of the base bid work and  Alternative A work, Alternative B work, and Alternative C work, the combined bid tabulations being as follows:

WHEREAS, the Public Works and Transportation Committee, the County Engineer and the Purchasing Agent have examined each bid, and it appears that the lowest responsible bidder is Marking Specialists Corporation, Cary, Illinois, their bid being $29,890.40, based on estimated quantities and unit prices; and
 
WHEREAS, this Lake County Board, by prior resolution at its meeting of May 10, 2011, appropriated $35,000. of Matching Tax funds for the pavement markings, where necessary, on various county highways and designated as Section 11-00000-19-GM; and.
 
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by this Lake County Board that a contract is awarded to said Marking Specialist Corporation, Cary, Illinois, in accordance with their bid of $29,890.40 based on estimated quantities and unit prices and that the Purchasing Agent, the County Clerk, and the County Engineer of Lake County be authorized, and they are hereby directed. to enter into a contract with said low bidder for the base bid work of pavement markings for concrete pavements on various county highways, and Alternative A work, Alternative B work, and Alternative C work, as described above, and designated as Section 11-00000-19-GM; and
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that in as much as such estimated quantities are the best approximation that can be determined at this time, these quantities may be added to, deducted from, or modified from in the final determination of the contract cost in accordance with Chapter 605 of the Illinois Compiled Statutes, Act 5, Section 5-205.2 without further Board action, providing the final cost chargeable to the funds appropriated does not exceed the appropriation.
