RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Darrell Road, County Highway 44, is a designated route on the County highway system; and
WHEREAS, to ensure the free flow of traffic and the safety and welfare of the traveling public, Lake County believes it would be beneficial for the intersection of Darrell Road at Dowell Road and Fisher Road to be improved, inclusive of new roundabouts and a multi-use path; and
WHEREAS, at its August 13, 2024, meeting, the County Board approved a construction contract for these improvements; and
WHEREAS, NICOR has a gas main near the intersection of Darrell Road at Dowell Road that needs to be relocated to accommodate the intersection improvement project; and
WHEREAS, it will be necessary for Lake County to reimburse NICOR for the cost to relocate their gas main, which is estimated to cost $180,000; and
WHEREAS, NICOR and Lake County are desirous of entering into an agreement to provide for the relocation of this natural gas line setting forth the terms and obligations to each agency, a draft copy of which is attached hereto; and
WHEREAS, an appropriation of funds is required.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that the County Board Chair, the County Clerk and the County Engineer of Lake County are authorized, and are hereby directed to enter into an agreement, and any amendments, between Lake County and NICOR, stating the terms and conditions for the relocation of a gas main for the intersection improvement at Darrell Road at Dowell Road and Fisher Road; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the County Engineer shall transmit, in writing, the final agreement, and any amendments, to be executed by the County Board Chair and the County Clerk; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that there is hereby appropriated $216,000 of ¼% Sales Tax for Transportation funds for costs associated with the relocation of the gas main, and designated as Section 13-00107-09-RD.
