Title
Credentialing and Privileging of Susan Felsenthal, M.D. and Pedro Cruz, M.D. - Schanding
Body
We are recommending the credentialing and privileging of these two individuals. In completing this task, members must apply and inform us of any concerns or issues since the last application. We have reviewed their licenses with the Department of Professional Regulation for current or pending issues. We have submitted the physician names to the American Medical Association and the National Practitioners Data Bank for review of current or pending issues. There are no current outstanding issues in either databank. Finally we reviewed their status relative to board certification.
The purpose of credentialing and privileging is to assure that these independent practitioners have the background and knowledge to essentially work without supervision. In our settings, there are more checks and balances than, say, in a hospital where physicians have admitting privileges. There is, however, more autonomy for these staff member than for the majority of our staff who are routinely supervised. Thus, our governing body and Behavioral Health Services Administration must periodically review backgrounds and abilities.
