Title

Joint resolution authorizing an emergency appropriation and execution of an agreement for a 2009 American Reinvestment and Recovery Act JAG Grant, to support a crime analyst position, in the amount of $165,079.

Staff Summary

The Project Safe Neighborhoods grant previously funded a crime analyst position from May 2008 to November 2009; however, this grant expired and was not renewed.

Through the federal ARRA grant #809053 the State’s Attorney’s Office would receive 100% funding to reinstate a crime analyst position from May 1, 2011 to February 28, 2013.

The program supports 21 months of salary, fringe and administrative expenses of a Crime Analyst position for the State’s Attorney’s Office.

The Crime Analyst will perform duties in the Drug Prosecution/Asset Forfeiture Division to gather, analyze and disseminate information with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies in furtherance of investigation and prosecution of organized crime members.

The Crime Analyst position will be eliminated upon the expiration of ARRA grant #809053.
