R E S O L U T I O N
 
WHEREAS, pursuant to authority granted by this Lake County Board, the Acting County Engineer heretofore called for sealed bids, by publication, to provide crack sealing of asphalt  and concrete pavements, where necessary, on various County highways and designated as Section 12-00000-07-GM; and
 
WHEREAS, pursuant to said publication and calling for said bids, sealed bids were received and opened on May 22, 2012, at 10:00 AM at the Lake County Division of Transportation in Libertyville, Illinois; a tabulation of said bids being as follows:

WHEREAS, the Public Works and Transportation Committee, the Acting County Engineer and the Purchasing Agent have examined each bid, and it appears that the lowest responsible bidder is SKC Construction, Inc., Elgin, Illinois, in the amount of $62,373.33, based on estimated quantities and unit prices; and
 
WHEREAS, this Lake County Board, by prior resolution at its meeting of February 14, 2012, appropriated $135,000 of Motor Fuel Tax funds for the improvement of the aforesaid section.
 
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by this Lake County Board, that a contract be awarded to said SKC Construction, Inc., Elgin, Illinois, in the amount of $62,373.33, based on estimated quantities and unit prices and that the Purchasing Agent, the County Clerk, and the Acting County Engineer of Lake County be authorized and they are hereby directed to enter into a contract with said low bidder to provide crack sealing of asphalt and concrete pavements, where necessary, on various County highways and designated as Section 12-00000-07-GM.
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that in as much as such estimated quantities are the best approximation that can be determined at this time, these quantities may be added to, deducted from, or modified from in the final determination of the contract cost in accordance with Chapter 605 of the Illinois Compiled Statutes, Act 5, Section 5-205.2 without further Board action, providing the final cost chargeable to the funds appropriated does not exceed the appropriation.
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this award be processed by the County Engineer for final approval of the Illinois Department of Transportation in accordance with the "Agreement of Understanding" between the Illinois Department of Transportation and Lake County, dated January 22, 2003.
