Resolution accepting an Illinois Emergency Management Agency/US Department of Homeland Security Citizen Corps grant and authorizing the emergency appropriation of $9,177.49 for the Lake County Citizen Corps Council.
Staff Summary
· The United States Department of Homeland Security (US DHS), through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), has made limited funding available to local jurisdictions to support volunteer preparedness efforts through the "Citizen Corps" family of programs.
· These grant funds are from Federal Fiscal Year 2011 and were applied for by the Lake County Health Department and Emergency Management Agency for use by the Lake County Citizen Corps Council.
· The Lake County Citizen Corps Council enhances the County's overall preparedness by facilitating information sharing, collaborative training and exercising, and providing educational materials.
· The grant funds must be expended by June 30, 2013 and will be used towards emergency preparedness outreach.
Body
WHEREAS, Lake County has been awarded a reimbursement grant through the Citizen Corps program in the amount of $9,177.49 for the support of volunteer emergency preparedness teams in Lake County; and
WHEREAS, budget amendments are necessary to properly account for the revenue and expenditures related to this grant and the Citizen Corps Council activity; and
WHEREAS, the proposed appropriations will be fully offset by the reimbursement from the Citizen Corps program grant; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that the award of a Citizen Corps grant in the amount of $9,177.49 is hereby accepted, emergency appropriations in the amount of $9,177.49 are hereby authorized in account 101-1101040-61040-000-000-000-11405, additional offsetting revenue in the same of $9,177.49 in account 101-1101040-45334-000-000-000-11405 is hereby budgeted, and the Chairman is hereby authorized to sign the grant agreement documents.
