R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Fairfield Road (County Highway 49) is a designated route on the County highway system; and
WHEREAS, it would be beneficial for the safety and welfare of the motoring public if Fairfield Road, at Illinois Route 176 (Fairfield/176 Junction Improvement), could be improved to provide increased traffic capacities; and
WHEREAS, an advance contract is required to complete the Millennium and Fort Hill trails realignment, construct the two pedestrian underpasses under Illinois Route 176, and construct a new relocated entrance for the Lakewood Forest Preserve in 2012 to enable the intersection improvement of Fairfield Road, at Illinois Route 176, to be completed in 2013; and
WHEREAS, it is advisable that a consultant engineering firm be employed to provide advance contract construction inspection engineering services for said improvement; and
WHEREAS, Lake County, by and through its Division of Transportation, has selected a professional engineering services firm in accordance with the Local Government Professional Services Selection Act, 50 ILCS 510/1 et. seq.; and
WHEREAS, Alfred Benesch & Company, Chicago, Illinois, are consulting engineers skilled in the provision of said advance contract construction inspection engineering services.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by this Lake County Board, that Alfred Benesch & Company, Chicago, Illinois, be employed to provide said advance contract construction inspection engineering services for the Fairfield Road at Illinois Route 176 intersection improvement, and that the County Board Chair, the County Clerk, and the County Engineer of Lake County are authorized and they are directed to execute on behalf of Lake County an agreement, a draft copy of said agreement attached hereto, for consultant engineering services between Lake County and Alfred Benesch & Company, Chicago, Illinois, at a maximum cost for services described of $684,650.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Engineer shall transmit, in writing, the final agreement to be executed by the County Board Chair and the County Clerk.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that there is hereby appropriated $820,000 of ¼% Sales Tax for Transportation and Public Safety funds for these advance contract construction inspection engineering services designated as Section 08-00113-16-BR.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this agreement be administered in accordance with Chapter 605, Act 5, Section 5-205.2 of the Illinois Compiled Statutes without further Board action providing the final contract cost chargeable under the funds appropriated does not exceed the appropriation.
