Resolution authorizing a contract with Safeware Inc., Lanham, Maryland, (Safeware) in the estimated amount of $90,204 for software maintenance, software upgrades and preventative maintenance for security cameras, video servers, access control panels, wireless duress alarm equipment and personal computer (PC) work station support.

 

Staff Summary

                     The current security cameras, video servers, access control panels, wireless duress alarm equipment and PC work stations require software maintenance, software upgrades and preventative maintenance.

                     As part of the Fiscal Year (FY) 2019 budget process, the Facilities and Construction Services Department (Facilities) budgeted $110,000 specifically for this purpose.

                     Purchasing identified a cooperative purchasing contract with Safeware through United States Communities to procure the software maintenance, software upgrades and preventative maintenance at a contract price that was competitively solicited and awarded through 2023.

                     Pursuant to Article 10-101 of the Lake County Purchasing Ordinance, Cooperative Purchasing, Lake County may participate in a cooperative purchasing agreement for the procurement of goods with one or more public procurement units in accordance with an agreement entered into between the participants.

                     This contract authorizes the purchase of software maintenance, software upgrades and preventative maintenance for security cameras, video servers, access control panels, wireless duress alarm equipment and PC work station support in FY 2019, subject to appropriation, in the estimated annual amount of $90,204, with the continued use of the contract based on an approved hourly rate for support beyond preventive maintenance that has been budgeted.

RESOLUTION

 

WHEREAS, the current security cameras, video servers, access control panels, wireless duress alarm equipment and PC work stations require software maintenance, software upgrades and preventative maintenance; and

 

WHEREAS, as part of the Fiscal Year (FY) 2019 budget process, the Facilities and Construction Services Department (Facilities) has budgeted $110,000 specifically for this purpose; and

 

WHEREAS, Purchasing identified a cooperative purchasing contract with Safeware through U.S. Communities to procure the software maintenance, software upgrades and preventative maintenance at a contract price that was competitively solicited and awarded through 2023; and

 

WHEREAS, pursuant to Article 10-101 of the Lake County Purchasing Ordinance, Cooperative Purchasing, Lake County may participate in a cooperative purchasing agreement for the procurement of goods with one or more public procurement units in accordance with an agreement entered into between the participants

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that the Purchasing Agent is authorized to enter into a contract with Safeware Inc., for the purchase of software maintenance, software upgrades and preventative maintenance for security cameras, video servers, access control panels, wireless duress alarm equipment and PC work station support in FY 2019, subject to appropriation, in the estimated annual amount of $90,204, with the continued use of the contract based on an approved hourly rate for support beyond preventive maintenance that has been budgeted for small repairs.
