R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, pursuant to authority granted by this Board of Lake County, the County Engineer heretofore called for sealed bids, by publication, for the resurfacing of Old McHenry Rd (County Highway 32) beginning at Quentin Rd (County Highway 5) and ending at US Rte12 and designated as Section 10-00085-08-RS; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to said publication calling for said bid, sealed bids were received and opened on March 23, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the Lake County Division of Transportation in Libertyville, Illinois; a tabulation of said bids being as follows:

Curran Contracting Co., Crystal Lake, Illinois $1,865,523.46
J. A. Johnson Paving Company, Arlington Heights, $1,939,093.00

WHEREAS, the Public Works and Transportation Committee, the County Engineer and the Purchasing Agent have examined each bid, and it appears that the lowest responsible bidder is Peter Baker & Son Co., Lake Bluff, Illinois their bid being $1,728,510.08 based on estimated quantities and unit prices; and
WHEREAS, this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, by prior resolution at its meeting of January 12, 2010, appropriated $2,670.000 of Matching Tax funds for the improvement of the aforesaid section.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by this County Board of Lake County that a contract be awarded to said Peter Baker & Son Co., Lake Bluff, Illinois in accordance with their bid of $1,728,510.08 based on estimated quantities and unit prices and that the Purchasing Agent, the County Clerk, and the County Engineer of Lake County be authorized and they are hereby directed to enter into a contract with said low bidder for the resurfacing of Old McHenry Rd (County Highway 32) beginning at Quentin Rd (County Highway 5) and ending at US Rte12 and designated as Section 10-00085-08-RS.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that in as much as such estimated quantities are the best approximation that can be determined at this time, these quantities may be added to, deducted from, or modified from in the final determination of the contract cost in accordance with Chapter 605 of the Illinois Compiled Statutes, Act 5, Section 5-205.2 without further Board action, providing the final cost chargeable to the funds appropriated does not exceed the appropriation.
